2016+ Mercedes-Benz GLE (New Model)
Three words describe the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GL: comfortable, capable, and confident. The redefined interior is comfortable, the engines are more than capable, and there's unlimited confidence when competing with rival brands.
Trim Levels

The 2016 GLE comes in many different trims: the diesel-powered GLE 300d 4MATIC, GLE 550e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid, GLE 350, GLE 350 4MATIC, GLE 400 4MATIC, AMG GLE 63, and the AMG GLE 63 S. There are no major changes to the 2017 models, but prototypes are underway for a redesign of the GLE as a 2019 model.
Engine

Engine options provide buyers with the power they're looking for in handling, performance, and fuel economy.
The GLE 300d 4MATIC diesel is equipped with a 2.1-liter Inline-4 engine capable of producing 210 horsepower. Next, the GLE 350 and GLE 350 4MATIC trims come with a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 302 horsepower. For increased performance, choose the GLE 400 4MATIC, which is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine that produces 329 horsepower.
The AMG GLE 63, and its counterpart the AMG GLE 63 S, offers the most horsepower of the lineup with its 5.5-liter V8 engine. The AMG GLE 63 produces 550 horsepower and the AMG GLE 63 S produces 577 horsepower. The environmentally friendly GLE 550 e plug-in has a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 plus electric motor that can run for approximately 18 miles on electricity.
Performance

Except for the GLE 350, GLE 350 4MATIC, and the GLE 300d 4MATIC, the remaining trims feature a twin-turbocharged engine, and all models are equipped with a 7-speed transmission. The drivetrain for all but the GLE 350 feature all-wheel-drive (AWD). The GLE 350 has rear-wheel-drive (RWD).
When it comes to towing ability, the GLE can handle between 6,600 to 7,200 pounds. Each model varies in its capacity, starting with the GLE 350 and GLE 350 4MATIC, which produce 273 lb-ft of torque. Next is the GLE 400 4MATIC, which produces 354 lb-ft of torque, and the GLE 300d 4MATIC, which produces 369 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the GLE 550e 4MATIC can churn out 479 lb-ft of torque, while the AMG GLE 63 and AMG GLE 63 S can produce 516 lb-ft and 561 lb-ft of torque respectively.
Interior

The well-equipped GLE comes with standard upholstery of MB-Tex faux leather, heated front seats, fold flat rear seats, and dual-zone climate control for comfort. For convenience, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Brake Hold, and selectable drive modes of comfort, sport, and slippery assist are standard. The GLE also comes with a power tailgate, sunroof, AM/FM/CD/HD Radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-inch color screen. Optional equipment ranges from front massaging seats and blind-spot monitoring to keyless entry and a rearview camera.

The different models also include Attention Assist, traction and stability control, pre-collision safety system, front and rear fog lights, anti-lock disc brakes, a forward collision warning system, hill start assist, and remote door lock/unlock.
