Trim Levels

In the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class category, there are four available trims; Sedan, Wagon, Coupe, and Cabriolet. Models available for the Sedan include the E 300, E 300 4MATIC, and AMG E 43. Wagon models include the E 400 4MATIC and the Coupe and Cabriolet models include the E 400 RWD and the E-550 RWD. The Coupe model also offers the E 400 4MATIC. The Sedan and Wagon are completely redesigned while the Cabriolet and Coupe were not. For 2018, Mercedes also added a new E 400 Coupe to consider and an AMG E63 S sedan.
Engine

Engine type and size varies among the different E-Class trims. The E-Class offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine with 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 329-horsepower and 354 lb-ft. of torque, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 396 horsepower and 386 lb-ft. of torque, or a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. torque.
The AMG E63 S features a 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine with twin-scroll turbochargers, 603 horsepower, and acceleration of 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds. The E 400 has a 3.0-liter Biturbo engine with 329 horsepower and 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds.
Performance

The 2017 models have a variety of performance enhancing systems ensuring flawless handling along with plenty of horsepower under the hood when needed. Both the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive and the rear-wheel-drive systems offer a smooth and quiet ride with responsive steering and strong brakes.
On select models, a multi-chamber adaptive air-suspension system allows the driver to set the level of the chassis using the Dynamic Select control. The control offers five modes allowing for adjustment to the suspension, shifting, steering, and throttle.
The AMG E63 S is supported by its 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive, four-wheel multilink suspension, ECO start/stop system, NANOSLIDE cylinder wall technology, high-performance composite or ceramic braking system, AMG sport speed-sensitive steering and suspension, electronic limited-slip differential, and an AMG performance exhaust system.
The E 400 features a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist, electromechanical power steering with Direct-steer, four-wheel multilink suspension, and Dynamic Select.
Interior

The 2017 E-Class interior features are designed for comfort and convenience with available equipment such as power front seats with memory, keyless start, dual-zone automatic climate control, voice control system, 12.3-inch display screen, dual USB ports, and Bluetooth audio streaming.
Stylish interiors use real-wood accent trim, leather seating, power tilt/telescoping steering column, ambient cabin lighting, ECO Start/Stop, and SmartKey remote locking.
Optional features add to the comfort level with active multi-contour massaging front seats that are ventilated and heated, heated steering wheel, and Napa leather upholstery. For entertainment, there's the Burmeister 1,450-watt 13-speaker stereo system and a panoramic sunroof, and for convenience, there's wireless phone charging and keyless go.
Safety Features

In the 2017 E-Class select models, several advanced safety features are available, such as the Drive Pilot system, which features lane-keeping Steering Pilot and Speed Limit Pilot that can read and respond to traffic signs. Allowing for easier handling, the radar-based cruise control system combined with the Steering and Speed features allow semi-autonomous capability.
Other safety features include rain-sensing wipers, Crosswind Assist system, automatic parallel parking system, Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and Remote Parking Pilot.
