2018+ Mercedes-Benz GLE

If you're in the market for a new crossover SUV that can handle anything your life throws at it, check out the 2018-2020 models of the Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV. Here's a guide to help make the best choice for you:

Trim Levels

The 2018 GLE comes in five trim levels: the 350, 550e, AMG GLE 43, AMG GLE 63, and AMG GLE 63 S. This is the most family-friendly-looking vehicle of the 2018-2020 trio.

The 2019 GLE comes in four trims: the 400, AMG GLE 43, AMG GLE 63, and AMG GLE S. The 2019 GLE has a more muscled look than its predecessor. It's more aggressive and has more body details to catch the eye.

Finally, the 2020 GLE comes in five trims: the 350 4MATIC, 450 4MATIC, AMG GLE 43, AMG GLE 63, and the top-of-the-line GLE 63 S. The 2020 GLE is the first of the new generation of the model - it's been completely redesigned and improved from the past two years. The body now has a slicker, more aerodynamically solid look to it that's sure to turn heads as you drive down the street.

Engine

Each GLE trim level is defined by its own engine. The 2018 GLE has a five engine lineup that starts with the 350's 302-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 with 273 pound-feet of torque. The year's strongest performer is the AMG GLE 63 S, which comes with a 5.5-liter V-8 that packs 577 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque.

The 2019 GLEs have four engines for four trims. The smallest engine is the 400's 329-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6, which produces 354 pound-feet of torque. The strongest is the AMG GLE 63 S, which has the same engine and ratings as its 2018 version.

The 2020 GLE's five engine options start off with the 350's 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, which produces 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. At the head of the class is the AMG GLE 63 S, which has no engine or rating change from previous years.

Performance

As always, the AMG models are the top performers for these Mercedes. They're equipped with a performance-minded all-wheel-drive system that gives your SUV superior grip on the road. The adaptive air suspension keeps your rides smooth and steady - there's nothing quite as exhilarating as a ride in an AMG!

Interior

The 2018 and 2019 GLEs seat five people in two rows. The 2020 model also seats five, but gets the option to upgrade to a third row to fit seven passengers. What's great about the GLE is that each year's premium packages let you add what you want to your SUV to make it the perfect vehicle for you and your family. Whether it's the smartest tech or the most luxurious GLE you can find, the packages are icing on an already well-equipped cake.

Safety Features

A family-ready SUV should have the latest safety technologies. Each year has access to driver-assist technologies - such as the collision avoidance system and lane departure intervention - that help you stay more aware on the road. These, coupled with the high-strength frame and standard safety features, keep you and your family safe and sound.
